“Virtual Reality in paediatrics: How making healthcare child-friendly and effective?”
New technologies are booming and starting to benefit patients – paediatric patient can be perfect user being digital natives. Digital technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) can innovate how young patients are managed and supported in the clinical context, with benefits ranging from drug-free pain management to rehabilitation and health education. These solutions can represent a cost-effective alternative to traditional procedures, potentially increasing the efficiency of health operations and the quality of patients’ therapy experience. Virtual Worlds can also play relevant roles outside the hospital, supporting the young audience to connect with their peers, learn and entertain beyond time and space constraints.
In this training capsule, we will explore with our two speakers the signficant opportunities existing and its promise of making healthcare child-friendly and healthcare. On the other side, potential challenges and risks such as privacy and ethical considerations need to be addressed by governments, organizations, and companies to ensure safe experiences for future generations in virtual spaces.
